Roopkund is situated at a height of 4778 mts above sea level in the Lap of ‘Trishul’ Massif and usually referred to as ‘Mystery Lake’ because of findings of Skeletons & horses around it.
Opinions are divided: some say they are the soldiers of General Jorawar Singh who died on the way to Tibet while others hold that pilgrims who went 200 yrs ago on the famous ‘Raj Jat Yatra’ perished due to inclement weather. |
