Roopkund is situated at a height of 4778 mts above sea level in the Lap of ‘Trishul’ Massif and usually referred to as ‘Mystery Lake’ because of findings of Skeletons & horses around it.

Opinions are divided: some say they are the soldiers of General Jorawar Singh who died on the way to Tibet while others hold that pilgrims  who went 200 yrs ago  on the famous ‘Raj Jat Yatra’ perished due to inclement weather.

**Four Horned Ram Mystery: Significant phenomenon of a four horned ram which takes birth once in Twelve years in this area and the ram leads the pilgrimage from ‘Nauti’ village to the famous rocky heights known as  ‘Bugyals’ and ultimately to ‘Nanda Devi Shrine where it suddenly disappears.
